Our Background and History Global Care Medical Group IPA Inc, herein refered to as ("Global Care") traces its history to 1991, when the State of California Department of Health Services (D.H.S.) requested the organizers of the company to assist in the development of a large Primary Care Case Management (PCCM). The proposed PCCM was intended to serve a large geographic area in the State with particular focus on the Greater Los-Angeles area. This request led to a comprehensive study of the health care delivery system within the targeted communities and the development of a proposal recommending strategies in addressing public health issues in the area.

Unfortunately, a state wide moratorium on PCCM formation and development was ordered by the government by the end of 1992 and therefore interrupted the development and implementation of the proposal. However, Global Care organizers were encouraged by the State to wait for the implementation of a new health care program titled, "Medi-Cal Two Plan Model". At the local corridor, the founders of Global Care served on several committees designed to formulate the Local Initiative on health care issues. This Local Initiative is now called the L.A Care Health Plan. Today, Global Care with its unique service marks of "Global Care™" and "Global Care IPA™" is on the frontier of finding lasting solutions to the complex health care management issues in our communities served by its growing network of Independent Physicians.

What is Global Care™ ?

Global Care™ is a strategically savvy, large multi-site, multi-specialty Independent Physician Association (IPA), which covers a broad geographic area of Southern California, particularly in Los Angeles County, and is continually expanding.

It is affiliated with traditional health care providers (the best primary care and specialty providers), the best hospitals in our geographic area, and is organized by a very competent and experienced management team (MedPOINT Management). Incorporated in 1993, Global Care Medical Group IPA currently has several thousand contracted patients and is rapidly growing. With 300 Primary Care Providers and 800 Specialty Providers, Global Care is a full service network with provider agreements in place for all lines of business products, i.e. Commercial, Seniors(Medicare Risk), EPO/PPO, Medi-Cal, Healthy Families, Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM), etc..

Global Care IPA™ is a large group comprised of professional men and women who have dedicated their lives and talents to the pursuit of excellence in the field of health care. Our idea is to bring people and modern medical technology together in our diverse communities. Our primary care physicians are easily accessible and strategically located for the patient's convenience. Global Care IPA™ is a physician controlled and directed organization.
